Bob Schroeder event this afternoon at the hall

There should have been a reminder in the email list. Apology for forgetting. It's 2 til 5 this afternoon at the hall.

Lasqueti Trust Committee and Community Information Meeting Friday - bring a chair

It is possible that we will hold the meetings outdoors, rather than in the relatively small and enclosed meeting room at the Health Centre. I don't know how many chairs there are there, or how many we can move outside, so it would be a good idea to bring a chair or stool of even a box to sit on. Be prepared to be outside, and keep yourself hydrated.

BC Assessment

BC Assessment is offering an opportunity for local government to have an online discussion and answer questions. I have booked an appointment for September 10, so if you have questions you would like me to ask on your behalf, please get them to me before then.Questions can be general or property specific. For more specific questions, it's best to get them to me as soon as possible.

A reminder for every one regarding Extreme Fire Danger

Though it's rained a bit and dampened the surface of most things, it's still extremely dry, and any fire stands a good chance of becoming catastrophic.  Please be extremely careful, and remind visitors and others of the danger.

from Fire Marshall Sean McCooey:

Ruge's flyer

I was curious about the assertion in the recent flyer from the Ruge's/Safe Island Alliance. The flyer says that the "Islands Trust provided us with a clearance letter", something I hadn't heard of before. I contacted staff, and recieved this as part of the reply:

Talking to folks on Lasqueti about feral sheep?

My name is andrea bennett and I'm a writer living in qathet (specifically in tiskwat/Powell River). I work as a senior editor at TheTyee.ca

I recently learned about the feral sheep on Lasqueti, and would like to speak with people about the sheep. (I read the minutes from the April council meeting where there was a delegation about sheep; it seemed like there was a letter written that a few people signed on to?).

I am also hoping to get in touch with Tom Weinerth, who led the delegation, if someone can pass a message along.

I'd like to come visit the island and see the sheep and talk to folks about their history, their place on the island, and the how people feel about their impact to local flora and fauna.

My email address is andreacunliffebennett [at] gmail [dot] com. I'm happy to share my phone number via email if phone is easier (but would prefer not to post it on the internet :)).
