Kiddie Kob Kastle behind the Arts Centre
Calling all Cobbers and Cobbers-to-be:
A Kiddie Kob Kastle is about to be built behind the Arts Centre!
Every Market Day, we'll set up so you can help us build the latest adventure for our littler ones.
My apprentice Ginny and I will show you how to make cob the faster, easier way, and barring another outbreak of Chicken Pox, we'll have a fun place for those under 5' to play in.
I've put a rough sketch drawing of the design on Lasqueti.ca under Events. It's a round building, 6' in diameter, with 8' high walls and a conical roof that peaks at 10'. 5' ceiling for both ground and loft, with cob stairs circling one wall connecting the 2 floors.
We'll need materials of course, and donations are gratefully accepted for:
- wheelbarrow
- 100' garden hose
- stone for floor and wall
- sand/clay to build with
- 8-6' roof beams (~5" round)
- 3-8' floor joists (2x6 or 5" round)
- 75' of 1x4" strapping
- 1/4 square of cedar shakes
- 26' of 3" round poles
- 7' of loft railing
- 1 curving staircase railing.
If we don't receive everything by in-kind donations, we'll try to wrangle up some $ donations to pay for what we don't receive.
Watch for a local celebrity gala to help you part with your hard-earned cash!
Any questions or offers can be sent to cob [at] lasqueti [dot] ca or call Dave at 877.873.1797
Hope to see everyone getting muddy this Market season!
