We are looking foward to get some property in the island.
Hi there, it might be we are more exposed to real-state since we are looking. Some how we found an ad about some land and then a few others in Lasqueti, but then little by little we keep running into more real state for sale in the island, to the point where my wife started asking questions... and I tend to blame it to the speed of information and new buyers profile, with higher exposure and focusing more in this island... but still wonder:
Do you guys think there is more property selling in Lasqueti now than before? Any body knows of any particular reason for this to be happening? Political, economical, ecological? Is it just the market prices been higher than ever? Are the wells drying? some one made this comment and really pinned us down.
By the way, congrats to the webmaster keeping this website simple and straight forward. Feels really a commune here with all the interacting between the islanders, something we certainly are looking for. It is a very informative and well rounded website.
I might come with more questions later but the main one is posted... voila!
Thanks so much for any comments and you guys have a good one.
ask a realtor?
There are a few realtors who work on island - Lisa Mackay http://www.lisamackay.ca/lasqueti.html and Anne Sperling come to mind. They both know the island market well and could answer your questions.
There are no island-wide political, economical, or ecological reasons that I am aware of for a "big sell-off". That said, every property has its own challenges, especially here. Wells are running dry or have saltwater intrusion all over the Gulf Islands - most folks here don't drill wells for exactly that reason.
The best free advice I have for anyone considering a move to Lasqueti is to come and spend time here. This is a very different place with its own charms and challenges - it suits some of us well, but turns into a nightmare for others. Come get to know the place before you even consider buying property here.
good luck in your search.
