qathet Regional District Launches Lasqueti Island Volunteer Fire Department Asset Management Survey
The qathet Regional District (qRD) is launching a survey seeking input from Lasqueti Island community members about the Lasqueti Island Fire Protection Service also known as the Lasqueti Island Volunteer Fire Department (LIVFD).
The survey will run from March 15 to April 15. The survey will be available online and paper copies will be available on Lasqueti Island at the Post Office or from the qRD office by request. To fill out the survey online, please visit https://bit.ly/3hNhVs0. Those with questions or needing assistance completing the survey are asked to contact the qRD office.
The data collected from this survey will get a sense of the public’s expectations for the LIVFD and desire to pay for this service and will be one of the tools used to review and identify opportunities for service adjustments and to inform the qRD’s capital planning priorities for the LIVFD. The survey will also gauge levels of public support for following insurance grading recognition guidelines. “Hearing from the Lasqueti public about the levels of service they want to receive from our fire department is really important to help guide the LIVFD into the future,” said Fire Chief, Richard Carlson.
“By facilitating meaningful public engagement, Lasqueti Island residents can feel confident that the qRD will hear their local interests in relation to the fire service that they pay for,” stated Electoral Area Director, Andrew Fall.
The qRD serves the rural areas from Lund to Saltery Bay, the City of Powell River, Texada, Savary and Lasqueti Islands and provides some services, through contract, to Tla’amin Nation. To learn more please visit qathet.ca.
