Update on LNG motions
Director Dave Murphy from Texada and myself waited til the very end of the resolutions debates at the UBCM in Penticton last week and managed to get Resolution B143 "LNG Tanker Ban in the Georgia Strait" passed. We added friendly
ammendments including Haro Strait and Juan de Fuca Strait, and the resolution was passed without any opposition.Earlier in the week we passed Resolution B76, requiring the Provincial gov't. to insist that any Gas Fired power plants be carbon neutral. These 2 resolutions don't guaratee that Wedtpac won't proceed with their Texada proposal, but do put serious obstacles in their path.
