Ready for Lasqueti's favourite dock party?

Wednesday night (July 26) on the False Bay dock, Makeke Marimba will be playing a set of high-energy dance tunes.   Show starts as soon as the vehicles clear the dock from the last ferry (~ 7pm) and runs through sunset.

This year we are anticipating a special musical guest (Chris Berry) who will be on Lasqueti with his 2 talented daughters and Celtic Harp player (Dave Hoover).    We have no idea yet what's going to happen, but knowing Chris, it will be amazing (here's a recent track recorded in June 2017:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9sBSohLPZw )

The Blue Roof and Provisions will both be putting on specials, so you can grab food, lounge on the deck, or get hard core down on the dock with us!

This annual event is a band favourite - dancing the night away under the open sky, surrounded by community, enveloped in the Salish Sea - it just doesn't get any better than that!   It is also our annual fundraiser to help pay hall fees for rehearsals throughout the year, and so as always, we will be passing the hat and thank everyone for their generous support over the years.  This year, we will be splitting the pot with Chris to help pay for his travel costs - please help us show how much we appreciate him traveling here to play for us :-)

ABOUT THE BAND

Makeke Marimba is a vibrant, energetic dance band from Lasqueti Island, B.C..  Our music is inspired by the Shona tradition of Zimbabwe. The music is based on ancient melodies and poly-rhythms originally played on mbira (elaborate wood and metal thumb pianos).
