Community Gatekeeper Training
The Judith Fisher Centre is pleased to present this training opportunity in association with the Canadian Mental Health Association Mid Island Branch. Community Gatekeepers are members of the community who have been trained to help people who are at risk of suicide. The CMHA has two levels of training: ASIST [APPLIED SUICIDE INTERVENTION SKILLS TRAINING] two-day training and safeTALK half-day training.
ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide intervention and safety planning. You will learn to: recognize people at risk of suicide; talk to them, hear their stories and understand their situations; help them keep safe and develop an effective personal safety plan and connect them to community supports and resources. At the end of the workshop you will receive a certificate of attendance.
