Proposal for new duplex elder cottage: we want your feedback

What's happening at the Last Resort Society?

  • Proposal for a new duplex elder cottage, with architectural drawings for viewing and discussion: https://lasqueti.ca/files/duplex.pdf.  Community feedback strongly encouraged about all aspects of this proposal!
  • Are you interested in applying for residency in an elder cottage?  Forms will be available at the meeting, or by contacting the LLRS office, at healthcentre [at] lasqueti [dot] ca, or by calling 250-333-8891.
  • Health services and the nursing contract: what’s on the horizon?  What services would you like to see your health centre offer?
  • Volunteer opportunities: the board is working hard these days, and can use lots of support - let us know your interests and skills and we will find a volunteer role to suit you.

For any questions, or to offer your ideas or volunteer time, email healthcentre [at] lasqueti [dot] ca, or call 250-333-8891.

Monthly General Meetings:

All are welcome to attend the General Meetings of the Last Resort Society, usually held on the third Wednesday of each month, at 3pm at the Judith Fisher Centre (subject to variation).  Please consult the Community Calendar for dates, or email healthcentre [at] lasqueti [dot] ca to confirm.

Board of Directors:

The Last Resort Society Board of Directors are community volunteers who work together to oversee the current operation and future plans of the Society.  Directors are nominated and elected at the yearly AGM, with occasional individual elections occurring at mid-year general meetings when needed.  For more information on serving as a director, please talk with one of the current directors or email healthcentre [at] lasqueti [dot] ca to find out more.

Current directors are: Susan Morrison (President), Nicole Murphy, Marilyn Darwin, Ron Abrahams, Tim Peterson, Victor Downard, Sandy Morrison, Frank Buffam, Robert Wallace, Tom Carter, Gwen Bigsby, Joyce Bonfield and Earnie Morrison

ELDER COTTAGES

We do not currently have any elder cottage vacancies; however we are happy to provide application materials, to be kept on file for any future openings.  When a space is available, a committee evaluates all interested applicants based on health-related need.  No extended care is provided; residents must be able to maintain independent living.

If you are interested in applying for occupancy, or for more information, please contact administrator Robin Jacobs via email: healthcentre [at] lasqueti [dot] ca, or by regular post:
