Ferry out of service
Harry called me just after 7pm Wednesday to tell me that the ferry, in French Creek, has a fuel situation (I think the fuel is contaminated) and they need to get hold of someone to come an pump out the fuel tank(s). They can't contact anyone tonight, so they will do what's necessary Thursday morning, as early as possible.
Harry says it is likely that there will be no ferry service available at all on Thursday, and that they will get back to running as soon as they can.
They might be able to update the message on the ferry house phone remotely. You can call and see what it says: 250-333-8787. There is an on-board cell phone, and you might catch one of the crew near it, especially when they are running again: 250-927-0431.
If I hear any news, I'll post an update on the Lasqueti web site, and it'll go out in the next Lasqueti email.

Good day Peter;
It is 7:30 Wednesday night. And I regret to advise the Ferry will not be
running tomorrow morning. We have contamination in the fuel and will have to
have the fuel pumped out and new fuel taken on. Harry is on the phone and is
trying to let as many people know as possible. Would you please post this
information to the community web page. We were of the opinion that we would
be operational with a change of fuel filters, unfortunately that was not the
case. I will make every effort to restore service as quickly as possible and
will keep you advised of our progress.

ferry information possibilities
Thank you to everyone who heard the news last night, and phoned friends and neighbours to spread the word.
I've asked Elgin to use the Western Pacific Marine website, and the telephone at the ferry house, to let us know when the ferry will be back in service. As of 9am Thursday, more than 12 hours after the problem was first communicated, the WPM web site didn't say anything about the Lasqueti ferry, and the ferry house phone said it was running on schedule, which it isn't.
