On page 4 in this week's Island Tides newspaper (Oct. 18-31), a Lasquetian "Asks Eileen" about locking doors.  Her response is such a perfect elucidation of the freedoms of living lock-free - recommended reading!    http://islandtides.com/

The trust we place in our neighbours is the foundation of healthy community.  That's why its such an offense on the occasions when gas gets siphoned, a car get jacked, or groceries or propane tanks go missing.  I am grateful every day that locks and keys are not a part of -  it is such a tangible symbol of the largely invisible core of shared values that binds us together.
