Derelect Tug in False Bay

kenpickard's picture

I seriously urge the community to take immediate steps to rid False Bay of the derelict tug boat moored in the Bay. On Whidbey Island we just had such a boat, although much larger, anchored in Penn Cove for a year or so, it caught fire and sunk, creating major pollution, damaging shellfish, and requiring a 2 million dollar re-floating and removal cost. GET RID OF THE OLD TUG before it is too late.

Transport Canada, the coast guard and DFO may be the places to start. A multitude of agencies with some small o large responsibility/interest in that. It's a problem all over the coast, other communities are dealing with it as well.

Is it time to call the Receiver of Wrecks? Or does JR still own it?
