Dana and Ken sent this article to get the word out of the cultural and ecological importance of herring on the West Coast.  In many areas, herring are gone, and in most others, it is severely diminished.  As the basis of cultural and ecological systems, we are actively trying to raise awareness of the serious state of herring.
