The ferry runs from French Creek Harbour on Vancouver Island to False Bay on Lasqueti Island. Pay parking is available at the marina. The trip takes from 50 minutes to over an hour (in rough waters).   Passengers and freight only - no cars!

Lasqueti is quite sparsely populated and lies in a rare ecosystem type - the Coastal Douglas Fir zone.  Our famous herds of feral sheep, along with the unique history of settlement have resulted in an ecology and natural environment with its own character.

Pete's Lake Water Users Society has been providing water via gravity-fed pipelines from Pete's Lake to its members at the north end of Lasqueti Island since 1987.

A Boil Water Advisory is in effect.

General Store, Bakery, & Cafe

Open for breakfast, lunch and meals to go. We serve organic coffee, pie, ice cream, sandwiches, soups, salads, fresh bread and pastries. Pizza is served during the summer on Fridays. 

Our Isle & Times is a monthly, community-supported newsletter (i.e., the articles and ads are written by community members), which has been published for 20 years.  It follows in the footsteps of many other fine newsletters that existed under different names and incarnations on Lasqueti. 

LIRA was formed to represent the interests of property owners on Lasqueti Island.
When an issue affecting Lasqueti arises, LIRA provides the platform to give ratepayers a voice in the discussion.  When there is not much to discuss, we're off doing other things!

The LYC was formed to represent the interests of Lasqueti Island's boating community.

The Objectives of the Club are:

(i)  to promote, encourage and foster  the development of  yachting, both power, sail, and  all other  aquatic sports,

Lasqueti Island is part of the qathet Regional District. A regional district is set up to provide different services in different areas according to the needs and desires of each area’s residents and property owners. Only those who receive the service pay for it.

ABOUT THE BAND

Makeke Marimba is a vibrant, energetic dance band from Lasqueti Island, B.C..  Our music is inspired by the Shona tradition of Zimbabwe. The music is based on ancient melodies and poly-rhythms originally played on mbira (elaborate wood and metal thumb pianos).

The Free Store is a recycling centre for reusable clothing, books and household objects.

Waste

Lasqueti has no garbage disposal. Please minimize the waste that you produce and dispose of your garbage off-island. You can fill a tote with your waste/recycling and take it back to appropriate places on Vancouver Island.
