Western Tiger Swallowtail
Western Tiger Swallowtail ( normal">Papilio rutulus)
A large yellow butterfly with medium-broad black borders and tiger-stripes on the wings. Peak season for adults is June-July, starting a little later than and overlapping with the Pale Swallowtail. These two species will often be in the garden at the same time. Larvae on chokecherry, saskatoon, maple, willow. Nectars on many wild and garden flowers.
