Woodland Skipper
Woodland Skipper (Ochlodes sylvanoides)
Skippers are small, fleet butterflies, with short wings that do not close completely over their backs. The Woodland Skipper is tawny orange with bands of dark markings and can be seen from late July until frost, mainly in August. The larvae feed on grasses. The adults nectar on many wild and cultivated herbs and flowers.
