February's Our Isle & Times

February's issue will keep you by the fire with more articles than ever before.

We have a very important Public Hearing scheduled for Monday, February 10 @ 11am at the Judith Fisher Centre.  A detailed backgrounder as well as an eloquent Last Word highlight the importance of this Public Hearing on the pending Connected Coast Fiber Optic Cable application.  The LTC will make their decision on the cable right after this Public Hearing ends, unless there are so many of us that there isn't time to finish.  Two related reports on the Advisory Planning Commission (APC), past and future, are also included.

This month's Ferry Update includes a long awaited announcement.

The Quote of the Month comes to you from the late Honorable Murray Sinclair, Chief Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Marilyn compassionately responses to what Sean Carleton started.  Related is this month's Recommended Read as well as a report on First Nations Housing in Canada.

Gord gets us growing ahead of the pack with details, details, details!  And if you want to experience his brand new Science Fiction novel (which is growing faster than his best spinach!), you can read along for free at https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/102129/gilderwood

John Carpay has also written a brand new book and shares his insights about how the current political situation has arisen...while Brian Peckford, the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador for 10 years, shares his insights on how to change it.

Paul MacRae, the author of two books, cites two other writers with extremely different goals to underscore this month's Climate Science piece (one of these, Thomas Sowell, is currently rocking my world!).

Some of us have already been enjoying Anicca's Healthy Nanaimo Bars...now you can make 'em yourself!

We have 3 new columns this month!  A healthy excerpt from Sally Fallon Morell's Nourishing Traditions, the Elephant on the Island is named, and an attempt at community healing begins.

Plus all the fun, colour, and humour that you've come to expect every month!
