Lasqueti Yacht Club Spring Bay Day
The weather is looking great - sunny with a bit of cloud. The winds and the tides are also looking favourable for the Lasqueti Yacht Club - Kayak and Paddle Board races on Saturday, July 15th. This could be, ( once again ),the perfect beach day.
So make sure you come out for the annual SPRING BAY RACE AND FUN BEACH DAY!
SATURDAY JULY 15Th.
Registration starts at 1:30
Kids Events start at 2:00 entry fee $2.00 for any kids.
Adult events start around 4:00 entry fee $2.00 club members $3.00 non members.
The kids events run by Anneliese are all about inclusion and fun. And Treats for all.
There are 4 adult races ( a bit more competitive but still lots of fun for all to join in ).
Paddle Board Sprint Race
Kayak Relay Race - a team of 2 paddlers using one kayak switching on the beach at the halfway mark.
Paddle Board Distance Race.(not too far though)
And what has become the premier race, the Single Distance Kayak Race.
This is a great event for everyone to participate in. Also a great event to be a spectator and watch the kids having fun and maybe watching your family or friends go for an unexpected dunk. I like to call it “fun and mayhem on the beach”.
This year we will have the club fleet of Lasers in the bay for members and non-members to try out during the event. Just check in with our Fleet Captain Peter Steenbergen.
For anyone interested in more information about the Club, our membership coordinator Don Dempster will be on hand to fill you in and/or sign you up.
Memberships are:
$60.00 a family
$40.00 a single
Use of the Club Lasers is included with Club membership.
Darwin, Susan and Dave will be serving up Hot Dogs and Polish Sausages starting at 2:00.
Hot Dogs $2.50
Polish Sausage $6.00
Please bring your own liquid refreshments.
We will have a limited number of extra kayaks, paddle boards and PFD’s available for any one who wants to get involved. If you have your own please bring them.
If you have extras that you will not be using it would be great if you could bring them to loan out as well.
Remember all participants must wear a PFD. Every year we have someone who says that they don’t need one, “well yes you do to be in our events”.
Anyone wishing to help out please call Richard Chesham 333-8555
Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday.
PS. While the winds are looking favourable a big NW wind could cancel and/or postpone the races.
