4.0 hectares Historical notes

In my Trustee notes in the June edition of the Local, I stated that the 4.0 Hectare number has been in the Land Use Bylaw since 2005, and likely longer. After some digging, I found that the first use of the 4.0 figure dates from Bylaw 7, passed in 1980. The Land Use Bylaw 16 of 1984 also uses 4.0, and so that number has been used consistently since in our bylaws.

That said, the Lasqueti Local Trust Committee has put review of this number into the Project charter for Phase 3 of our current OCP/LUB review, and will consider correction of the number when we get to that phase, which is projected to begin in fiscal 2024-25.
