Derelict vessels
Hi all,
This fellow is trying to create an inventory of derelict boats in the area, with an eye to securing funding to clean them up.
If you know of derelict vessels and want to help, please follow his guidelines (below), and forward the information to him.
Despite the dedicated efforts of many, there is still no Federal or Provincial program to deal with these vessels.
You can email him at: info [at] salishsea [dot] ca
Keep this short, info I need of boats that are either sunk or abandoned on the beaches.
As for boats afloat, if the community can reach out in a sensitive way to those owners, that have and are willing to give up by written possession of their boat I will consider those also.
No promises made or given, but if we don't get our act together here in the Islands Trust and the CRD, this problem will continue to grow.
1) pictures complete inside and out if possible
2) Pictures of damage that make the boat hard to float
3) length, width, depth
4) GPS location as exact as possible, andriod or iphone will do this automatically if location is on.
5) identification of any sorts, engine serial numbers, hull serial number, (generally right rear ) painted over name and or 14K number, This is very important
6) Inside condition and garbage, sometimes I find old mail with name.
7) Anything that sticks out as a hazard , paints, oils, tap fuel tanks to see if contains fluids.
Be safe, and if someone is along to bare witness and any other debris in bushes.
