ROAD NOTICE - Annual Gravel Delivery

Our annual road gravel delivery is scheduled for Oct. 18 and 19 (Tues. and Wed.).  Six trucks operated by "off Island" drivers  will be hauling Tues.until dark, start again early Wed. and baring any serious complications hauling is expected to be completed by mid or late afternoon on Wed.  Our gravel allotment is the same as other years however  more of it will be placed on Main Rd. than in previous years.  Placing more gravel on Main Rd will increase the truck traffic on Main Rd as trucks will be delivering to the Emcon Yard and placing material directly onto Main Rd.(the same truck route).  The grader will also add to the congestion.  Once things get underway there will be stretches of loose lumpy gravel on Main Rd, please slow down, and drive with extra care and attention during this time. Given our recent  heavy rainfalls the road and especially road shoulders can be expected to be softer than  normal.  Soft road shoulders present an extreme driving hazard for heavy trucks if they have to ease off the main traveled portion of the road.  The most common reason an experienced driver would ease onto the road shoulder is to avoid a collision, please keep well to the right.

Thanks for your attention
