Road Mapping on Lasqueti Island

The Powell River Regional District wishes to advise Lasqueti Island land owners and residents that the Provincial Digital Road Atlas (DRA) team will be on Lasqueti Island the week of October 20th undertaking the mapping of the island’s roads.  This work will be done in large part by DRA staff simply driving down roads and collecting GPS data from their vehicle.  No photos or videos will be taken.  You will know their vehicle as it will have a GPS antenna on the roof.  DRA staff will be accompanied during some of this mapping work by Fire Chief Richard Carlson or other fire department members.

The work is being done at the request of the Regional District to ensure accurate dispatch information for the Lasqueti Fire Department.  The road linework that will be produced through this work will also be used by both the Powell River Regional District and Island’s Trust in preparing accurate maps of the island.
