Answer to one question asked at Community Information Meeting
Someone at the CIM on the parking issue said there was a ticket issued by RCMP on the other side dealing with vehicles parked on the roadside, that might help us here on Lasqueti. I called the Oceanside detachment, and was given the email address of an officer that could answer my enquiry.
Here's my question: "At a recent meeting on Lasqueti Island, dealing again with the question of parked vehicles on the road allowance by False Bay, one community member reported that if you left a vehicle beside the roadway on Vancouver Island, the police would, or at least could, issue you a ticket that would cost $575"
Here is the Municipal Traffic Services Investigator, Cst. Mark Gaschler's response: "I can clarify this issue for you. If a vehicle were caught driving on a roadway without insurance, the driver would be issued a "No Insurance" Violation ticket for $598. We do not ticket unlicenced vehicles parked on the side of the roadway. I am familiar with the unlicenced vehicles parked on Lasqueti Island an I would recommend you liaise with Ministry of Transportation to see if they can provide you with another option."
It's possible I gave incorrect information in my question. If you can guide me, I'm happy to ask the question again, in a better way.
