ferry update Thursday, March 27

Harry phoned me mid afternoon Thursday to say that the first two trips off Lasqueti, 8 and 11 am had both had people left behind. This weekend looks like it will be a busy one, so they will put passes out. Get to the ferry early if you want to be one of the 40 passengers that gets to go on each trip.  Western Pacific Marine's policy is now that there will be a trip at the end of the day to get Lasqueti people back home to Lasqueti.

I've asked WPM to schedule extra trips during busy times, especially the Easter long weekend that's coming up April 17 through 21. Even if they do, the capacity of four trips is 160 passengers each way each full day, which is 17 passengers less than the capacity of 177 (59 x 3 trips) usual service with Centurion VII each day.

I will contact BC Ferries again and seek their intervention and assistance in having Western Pacific Marine maintain a reasonable level of service to Lasqueti. I'll let you know when I hear from them, and what they say.

In the meantime, be aware that the demand for available ferry capacity frequently outstrips the supply, and that this is a recipe for stress and anxiety. Try to avoid it, or minimize it, if you can.
