A Two - Day Theatre Making Workshop For All Ages
A Two Day Theatre-making Workshop (for all ages!)
With visiting theatre artists bree and Philip Valle of California-based Blu Canyon Studios
This community-based theatre workshop will stress the use of waste-stream, repurposed materials to celebrate communal storytelling. We teach the gentle craft of transforming trash into imaginative art pieces that can be performed, including costumes, masks, props and puppets.
We will be
- Exploring styles of movement
- Making music and weird sounds
- Practicing team building
- Creating animal masks/puppets of the Amazon rain forest found in Lynne Cherry’s The Great Kapok Tree (that participants will keep)
- Practice storytelling
The workshop is open to all ages including crafters, actors, sculptors, dancers, junk collectors, directors, singers, designers, teachers, painters, musicians, seamstresses, doodlers, writers, and anyone with a willing spirit.
Where: Lasqueti Island Community Hall
When: July 31 and August 1 from 9am – 5pm
The cost for the two day workshop is $50/person.
Family rates and sliding scale available upon request.
The workshop will culminate with a public performance at 6pm on August 1 followed by a community pot-luck.
