Drinking Water Week May 20 - 26

I've received notice that there are grant available ($500, $1000 or $1500) to communities too plan and host events during Drinking Water Week, which this year is May 20 through 26.  Events and activities should involve and inform the public about the importance of drinking water, and should preferably take place during Drinking Water Week.

Is anyone interested in putting together a program and submitting an application for funding? Some possible ideas might include:

Inviting Lasquetians to inform us about their water systems (gathering, storing, treating, etc.) either by hosting "open houses" or by making presentations at a public event

Asking suppliers of drinking water storage and treatment equipment, and waste water equipment, to display their wares and inform and educate us

Other activities and events thought to be suitable and appropriate.

I have a one-page application form and a three page program overview that I will forward by email to anyone interested.

This application would probably have to be done under one of our community groups - the Lasqueti Community Association or Lasqueti Fishery/Forestry Renewal Society or some other organized and official group.
