Island Trust Council supports call for delay, discussion on coal exports

Wednesday afternoon the Islands Trust Council passed a resolution asking our chair to sign on to the open letter asking Port Metro Vancouver to delay any decision about applications to increase coal exports, and asking them to hold an open and extensive consultation process with citizens to hear their concerns, and to consider the climate change implications of shipping coal to Asia.

The City of Vancouver has also, I hear, signed on to the letter in support of these aims. Almost certainly more local governments will join.
