Subject: Food Safety Planning Workshop for Food Processors
 

To: Farm and food organizations, Vancouver Island & the Gulf Islands. We would like to bring your attention to an important food safety planning workshop that is being held in Duncan in November. We would appreciate it if this notice about the workshop (below) could be posted for the benefit of farms or other local businesses in your area. This is the only workshop scheduled for the Island for the remainder of 2012. The FSSI (Processor) Program is managed in British Columbia by the Small Scale Food Processor Association (a non-profit organization) in support of food processors; more information about the program is available at www.ssfpa.net/foodsafety.

.A BC HACCP Plan workshop

We would like to inform you about our “A BC HACCP Plan” workshop scheduled for Duncan on Friday, November 16, 2012. This food safety planning workshop may be of interest to farms and other businesses considering, or already involved in, food processing. The workshops are a valuable education tool for owners and employees. What’s more, they offer an opportunity to network, and to access information that will help enhance your bottom line in these changing economic times.

Workshop description

An introductory food safety planning workshop for food processors – you’ll learn some basic HACCP theory and practical monitoring procedures, including measuring and recording temperatures, testing sanitizer solution strengths and information on employee hygiene and practices.

·        Workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.

·        Cost $20, includes lunch and coffee breaks

·        All individuals participating in the workshop receive a Record of Participation. Each business represented at the workshop receives a FREE VWR® Traceable™ Waterproof Food Thermometer.
