brief report on Thursday's Local Trust Committee meeting

Here's a brief update on some of the discussions and decisions made at last (Thursday) night's Lasqueti Trust Committee meeting. Thank you to the people who came out to the meeting and shared their views. The minutes will be available, I hope, in a week or two, possibly in draft form.

We decided to put out information, probably towards the end of September, on what the legal possibilities are that now exist for renting out accommodation on Lasqueti, short-term and long-term. It will take a few weeks to draft this, circulate it to those who can confirm it's accuracy or correct it, and get it out. After this, we will be glad to hear from Lasqueti people about whether or not we should have more community discussion on the guest cabin issue.  There is a staff report on this that is part of the agenda package for last night's meeting. I'll see if I can get it posted to the web site.

We decided to hold the next meeting, Thursday, October 18, during the daytime. Though a fair number of people attended last night's meeting, nearly all of those who requested an evening meeting so they could attend were not there. There are significant additional costs to holding evening meetings, and we want to be as frugal with taxpayers money as possible. This can be revisited and changed for future meetings, if there is sufficient interest and demand.

Please be aware that you do not need to attend a meeting to express  your opinions or ask questions. You can email one of your trustees, or the whole trust committee:
