VFD & First Responder Certification Training

Event Date:
Friday, November 4, 2011

The Lasqueti Volunteer Fire Department is conducting this years First Responder certification training beginning  Friday Nov. 4th. The course work will involve classes taking place over the first 3 week-ends of November, full attendance is mandatory.  There are a few spaces available for new recruits.

Volunteering as a First Responder demands a significant time and energy commitment.  If you want to join the team please give careful consideration to whether you are genuinely prepared and able to meet the requirements that the role of  a First Responder demands of those who perform this valuable community service. You must have a phone, full access to reliable transportation 24/7(when on call, usually one week per month) and accept that while performing Fire Department duties you are bound by departmental guidelines.

Once certified your license will be valid for 3 years.  We are looking for people who enter the commitment with the intention of carrying out their First Responder duties for this whole time period.

Lasqueti has an outstanding First Responder Team,  years of collective experience and commitment have earned us the co-operation and respect of those outside agencies we interact with in our role as First Responders. If you are willing to accept our expectations of new recruits and would like to join our team we want to hear from you.
Please call Ross Thompson at 333-8680 or Kathy Schultz at 333-8773

Also there is a tradition of community support of preparing lunches and treats for coffee breaks for those taking the first responder training This has always been well received and it helps to show those volunteers how much our community honors what they are doing. We have always had great help with this in the past and hope to organize more of the same for this years training.
Please call  Kathy at 8773 or email her at morkats [at] gmail [dot] com  to slot a time if you would like to contribute.
