Lasqueti Island Local Trust Committee Riparian Area Workshop

Event Date:
Friday, March 4, 2011 - 11:30am - 2:30pm

Lasqueti Island Local Trust Committee Riparian Area Workshop

at the Arts Centre, 11:30-2:30, Friday, March 4.

Riparian areas are essentially the stips of land that border creeks, rivers, wetlands, or other bodies of water. Because of their proximity to water, the plant species and topography of a riparian zone differs considerably from those of adjacent uplands. Special provincial regulations have been put in place to protect these important ecosystems.

This interesting workshop will be led by Michelle Jones, an experience environmental professional and trainer, who will walk us through some of the issues that need to be considered to help sustain our local riparian areas on Lasqueti. Michelle invites questions and interaction from the audience members during the workshop.

Your local trustees hope to see you at this workshop so that we can all learn together about sustaining and protecting our important waterways and the riparian areas.

Jen, Susan, Peter (our Lasqueti Trust Committee)
