Open Fire Restrictions Updated

As of noon July 3, (today), ALL OPEN FIRES ARE NOW RESTRICTED IN OUR AREA

From the BC Forests Coastal Fire Centre:

"PARKSVILLE – In addition to the Category 1 and 2 open burning fire restriction currently in effect
throughout the entire Coastal Fire Centre, effective at noon July 3, 2009, campfires and Category 3 open
burning is also prohibited in the following specific areas of the Coastal Fire Centre.

Areas affected in this restriction are: Vancouver Island south of Highway 24 (Gold River Hwy),

the Squamish and Chilliwack Forest Districts; the mid and south Gulf Islands including Texada, Quadra,

Cortes, Read and Hernando Islands and gulf islands south of these islands.

This open fire ban is in effect to protect public safety and to limit the risk of person-caused wildfires. This ban does not restrict fires in stoves using gas, propane, or briquettes."

This means no cooking fires.  No fires at all.  Please be mindful of the restrictions, and call our local authorities before lighting ANY fire.  Ross Thompson (333.8680) or Morgan Runnings (333.8773)
