Fire Restrictions

OPEN FIRES NOW  RESTRICTED IN OUR AREA

Today, we have received notice from the Coastal Fire Centre in Parksville that Category 1 and Category 2 Open Fires are now prohibited until further notice.

Category 1 open fire means: an open fire that burns piled material no larger than one metre high and one metre wide.

A Category 2 open fire means: an open fire that burns piled material no larger than two metres high, and three metres wide, or grass over an area less than 0.2 hectares, (2000 square metres) in size.

This open fire ban applies within BC Parks and to all Crown and private land outside of organized areas.

Please note that this ban does not restrict small Campfires (for the purpose of cooking) or fires in stoves using gas, propane or briquettes.

Please check with the local authorities (Ross Thompson @ 333.8680 or Morgan Runnings @ 333.8773) before lighting any fires.
