Arts and Culture Week at the Arts Center: April 19-25

ARTS AND CULTURE WEEK AT THE ARTS CENTRE

B.C. Arts and Culture Week is April 19-25, and the Lasqueti Arts Council is planning to focus our energies that week to the clean-up and spruce-up of the Arts Centre at its new location, with arts activities all week and a Grand Re-Opening show on Saturday evening - the 25th. Artists and artisans are invited to donate a work to be sold for $50 or less, to benefit the Arts Council.  For the labour, everyone is invited to pitch in however they can.

Here’s the schedule:
- Sunday, April 19, noon to 4: general clean up, outside and in.  Sort things to be kept and to be hauled away.  Take down lights to prepare for Monday’s painting.  Clear things away so the skirting can be replaced on Monday.  Sort out lumber for the skirting job.
- Monday, April 20, noon to 4: Filling and painting interior walls. Call Sophia (8623) if you’d like to help.  Outside: Replacing the skirting on the side opposite the road, so the ditch beside the porch can be
backfilled. Call Darlene (8819).
- Tuesday, April 21, 7 p.m.: Life Drawing
- Wednesday, April 22, noon to 4: install new lights inside. Call Darlene (8819).  7 p.m.:  Movie Night.
- Thursday, April 23: The carpet will get steam cleaned. No entry! Outside, noon to 4: clean up the grounds and shovel dirt to back-fill   the ditch alongside the porch. Call Darlene (8819) to volunteer, and for details about what tools to bring.
- Friday, April 24, 1-3 p.m.: Install and hang Saturday’s show. Bring your paintings, drawings, sculpture, carvings, jewelry, or art works by others, that you are willing to donate for sale Saturday night. $50 maximum sale price per item.
- Saturday, April 25, 7 p.m.: Grand Re-Opening of the Arts Centre in our   grand new location!  Bring yourself and a neighbour and finger foods.    Come view the artwork and buy one to take home, enjoy the music and   food, and help us celebrate the large artistic spirit of our community. Idea for Art Sales: The gala will start at 7 p.m. Sales will begin at 8. People interested in buying something will draw a number, and chances to buy will come in order of the numbers. When your number comes up, you get to choose what you want to buy. If your choice has already sold, choose something else. We're trying this to do away with the competition around sales. There will be absolutely no pre-sales or outside prior
arrangements.
