Hanging Garlic Basket

Let’s celebrate the beginning of summer by getting ready for all that big, fat, juicy garlic that will be ready in August, and weave another garlic basket.  We’ll be using round reed as our base then getting creative with bull kelp, different barks and grasses, split cedar root, and any other special beads or shells you

Bull Kelp Basket Workshop

We'll be weaving with bull kelp and you'll have your choice of weaving an inflated bull kelp coiled basket, or a little traditional over, under weave basket. Both are fun to make, beautiful, and very interesting.

Cedar Root Gathering Basket Workshop

Back by popular demand. Gwen has all ready made three of these, but she has four kids. In this workshop we will be weaving a large, durable, very strong basket that has many uses. It goes to the garden, pot-lucks or market with style.

Mule Skinner Basket Workshop

A Lasqueti women (or man) should never be too far away from their Mule Skinner Basket. This fairly large, wild cherry bark basket is rectangular in shape with a heavy leather strap. Like the gathering basket, it's very useful in the garden, at the market, or for pot-lucks.

Cedar Basket Workshop

For this cedar basket we will be using lots of different weaving techniques such as the standard weave, twill, diagonal weave, and twinning. The core of the basket will be cedar with other grasses and barks woven in. This basket will be a little smaller and a more intricate weave.  Some previous weaving experience will be helpful, but not necessary.
