Heron Bay Artifacts

This sandstone club was found along the beach in Heron Bay.  It is not directly associated with a midden, and there  there is no natural sandstone in this bay..  The artifact has been chipped and smoothed (or water worn) at both ends.  The right hand side if you're looking at the photo) is the handle-end; tt is square in cross-section.

This is a collection of fragments of ground slate tools.  Most are likely the remains of knives, used for filleting/cutting fish.  Artifact F is a ground slate projectile point that was probably hafted on a harpoon.  Ground slate technology of this kind is first used around 3500 years ago, and become increasingly common after that.  The abundance of ground slate in this one
