Lasqueti.ca Upgrade: Phase 2 complete!

On Tuesday lasqueti.ca received a major upgrade.  The site software is now completely up-to-date, and the lasqueti "theme" has been completely re-worked to incorporate a pile of improvements based on feedback we've received and new features that are available.  We tried to keep things similar so as to minimize confusion, but we packed in what we hope are lots of usability improvements too.

One significant change is the login area, which has moved to the top-right corner of the site.  You can now log in from any page on the site, without losing your place.  Just move your cursor over the "login" tab, and the login form will drop down for you.

Try out the new scrolling News and Events blocks on the front page - you can now scroll through these lists in place using the up/down buttons on the list.  Also, check out the new "home pages" for the Community, Arts & Culture, and Marketplace sections of the site.  And the new drop-down menu under each of those sections, which we hope makes it easier to locate the things you're looking for.

Behind the scenes, the site has improved ability to automatically detect and block spam, and to automatically hide e-mail addresses from spam-bots, while keeping them visible to humans.

There are still lots of rough edges to polish up - we're not finished yet. (Especially if you use Internet Explorer - and if you do, PLEASE consider upgrading to Firefox!)  However, the site should work correctly even if it looks a little sloppy in places, so please, as always, if you notice anything that doesn't seem to work right, please use the "Contact" link on the left to send me a message.

We are very keen to get your feedback on the new site.  This is YOUR community website, and we'd like to make it suit your needs.  If you have some ideas for how you'd like to use the site, or how we can make it easier to use or navigate, we'd love to hear from you.  Please contact Joseph if you have any feedback at all.
