Paving the Island

If we really want to see if we can get some paving or chip seal done, how do we go about it?

I would think we would need one of our municipal governments to spear head this with the provincial government. My thought is that this would be more of a QRD issue rather than the Islands Trust but I’m not sure.

Maybe the first thing to do would be to try and get an Island vote on whether or not the majority want it done. It could certainly be done at the next municipal election, but maybe there is a way it could be sooner.

It would really help the cause if there was an overwhelming majority who wanted it.

As both a driver and biker I think it would be a great idea, I hate trying to ride in a heavy dust cloud, and then having my bike go sideways on the washboards, then the chain pops off from hitting a pothole, etc. etc.

Also if we had better roads perhaps newer more efficient and cleaner cars would come instead of old beaters.

True it might lead to faster driving but I’m sure we could work it out, and after travelling in both Spain and South America I can tell you speed bumps work!
