PRRD voted to postpone bylaws

Just after 8:15 I got email notice that "the board just voted unanimously to postpone the Bylaws 317.1 and 350.1 for one year and to carry out public consultation with Lasqueti Island residents. And also to put $5000 in the 2015 budget to conduct the consultation process."

Horray!   Thank you to Lasquetians for their great efforts, and to PRRD board members.

This is excellent news.

Now we can start, collectively as a community, working on figuring out the advantages, disadvantages, consequences, and ramifications of all of the options open to us, and move forward with full involvement, consultation and collaboration.

Perhaps we may even be able to set an example of how to provide and/or integrate emergency services dispatch and delivery that is useful for other small rural communities like Lasqueti, where they have limited communication infrastructure and where access to residences doesn't cleanly fit into an urban street addressing systems.
