July 14
from Peter Johnston:
I got a call from the ferry captain this afternoon because they had a bag with a laptop computer left on the ferry, and it contained evidence that might link the owner to me. I don't know whose it is, but someone is (or was) missing it. The owner can contact the ferry crew (according to the WPM web site) at 250-927-0431 or you can call the ferry house on Lasqueti at 250-333-8787.

from Nalia Barkman:
Does anyone have a baby car seat they're willing to lend me? One that would fit
a toddler. My niece is coming Wed. for the wedding, so we need it for about a
week. Or, if you're open to a longer loan, Ari is outgrowing his infant car
seat, so we're looking for a seat both for here on the rock & one for on the
other side. We're also on the lookout for a small sturdy crib, as Ari is
learning to crawl out of his cradle. Yikes!
Also, if anyone is trying to contact us re: wedding stuff or anything else, use
e-mail (qnalia@yahoo.ca or uwe_schiek@yahoo.ca) or come find us because our
blinkity blank phone is on the fritz. What timing.
See you at the wedding party, July 17! Dinner at 6pm (bring a potluck item
enough for your party plus 2, & beverages). Open mic for blessings, embarrassing
stories about Uwe, love ballads, etc. Dance at 8ish.

from Mopsy Purcell:
Recycling - The Petro Can station in Parksville will take used oil cans they are on the main drag left hand side heading south just before the Tim Hortens , etc., its very simple they have bins right there you can just deposit your old oil cans it doesn't matter if they were purchased there or not. Please dont throw them in the dump. Most business should take back oil can products if they are their own however Lordco in Parksville will not take back their own oil containers it's a good idea to check this before you buy from a business and put the pressure on them to make changes. The recycling centre by buckerfields claims they will soon take the small household batteries. Ditto to Heather- way to much fast driving around Spring Bay that corner is very bad their have been several vehicles ditched their over the years and I have been forced into the ditch while pushing my kids in the stroller I am very nervous about that corner ,please remember there are lots of children in this neighborhood, something I see a fair bit of is people sending over work crews of drywallers etc. to work on their houses here and giving them use of their vehicles, like the double crew cab blue pickup that is driving around this neighborhood way to fast full of guys in the back waiving beer cans all over, Remember if you lend somebody your vehicle you are responsible please remind them to be respectful and safe, Mopsy

Friends of Nalia and Uwe! In case you're wondering how you can show your love and support to this wonderful couple on their wedding day: I happen to know they are in need of a new fridge. I will be coordinating donations at the party Saturday night, so if you'd like to contribute bring your loonies, toonies, and/or twenties or cheques, and consider attaching a little card or note with your blessings unless you'd rather be anonymous. Throw your loot in the boot (look for the marked gumboot on or near the food tables). Or find me before, during, or after the event and I will make sure it gets to the right place, or drop it in the mail to Uwe and Nalia. Let's all help make sure Ari's mashed peas stay fresh and tasty!
