Schedule
** The Van will service the North End weekly and will only service the South End if need demands it. We are trying to avoid running an empty van for long distances.
This schedule will grow as need demands. If you have need for the vanpool on a day not listed, please phone or email. If there are enough reservations and a driver is available, we will run.
Thursdays
7:00am - van leaves North end, picks up passengers/cargo and meets with 8:00am ferry.
3:30pm - van leaves ferry, drops off passengers/cargo.
Cargo Delivery
To have cargo delivered, you must be a member of LETS! and you must have an account with us.
Size and weight restrictions apply. Generally no bigger than a tote or suitcase and at the discretion of the driver.
We will pick up your cargo from the ferry and deliver it to a spot near you along the main route. You will pay us the ferry fee for your cargo and we will pay the ferry crew.
Cargo must be clearly marked with your name so the drivers of our vanpool can identify it easily. Having your cargo marked with “LETS!” on it would help as well.
You must indicate a spot along the main route where you would like your cargo delivered.
Although we promise to be careful with your cargo, LETS! is not responsible for any stolen or damaged goods.
Cargo That Rides With You
Cargo does not include large freight such as building materials or kayaks.
Flammable, caustic and other dangerous materials are not permitted in the van. Drivers reserve the right to refuse cargo at their own discretion.
Payment
Payments can be made in cash with exact change, cheque payable to:
Lasqueti Eco-Transportation Society, or by PayPal at www.lasqueti.ca/lets.
We encourage you to take advantage of the convenience of a prepaid account once you become a member of the society.
Accounts
As a member, you can hold an account with us. We encourage you to prepay before you reserve a spot for your cargo (or for yourself). All debts must be paid in full each month.
Payment for your account can be sent to Rob Cameron. All cheques payable to Lasqueti Eco-Transportation Society.
Memberships
The Lasqueti Eco-Transportation Society is a non-profit
society run entirely by volunteers. Membership fees help LETS! with operating costs and materials.
Memberships are $10/year, renewable January 1st of each year.
As a member, you are entitled to a prepaid account with the society.
An account allows you to prepay with the society and saves you the hassle of arranging payment in person. With an account, you can also carry a debt, payable at the end of the month. We encourage you to prepay so all are assured payment is made.
Membership forms can be found at the Post Office or at www.lasqueti.ca/lets.
Community Events
The vanpool is available as a service for community events provided there is a minimum of 4 passengers (or equivalent
compensation) and a driver is available.
Notices will be posted at
www.lasqueti.ca/lets and on the Lasqueti email list when the vanpool will be run outside of regular scheduled times.
If you would like the vanpool to service an event, gather at least 4 people and phone to reserve it. If a driver is available, we will be happy to accommodate you.
Volunteers
If you would like to volunteer driving a shift, please phone Scott 250-240-3609.
Even 1 shift a month would be a tremendous help! All volunteers must have a clean driving record and a valid, Class 5 (regular) driver’s license.
“Give a Ride, Get a Ride”
For each shift you volunteer, you are entitled to a free ride at a future date.
LETS! is a community building initiative and you can get involved!
The advantage to being a LETS! driver is if you have an errand to run and want to save gas and wear and tear on your vehicle, you can put in a little extra help for the community delivering cargo and passengers with the vanpool and get a free ride!
No Scents Makes Sense
Because of sensitivities to fragrance and fumes, passengers are asked to refrain from wearing any scented products or from carrying any offgasing materials. For safety reasons the driver maintains the right to refuse a passenger who is wearing or carrying any of these substances.
No Smoking
Smoking of any kind is not permitted in or near the van.
Pets
Pets are permitted in the van (at the driver’s discretion) if they can fit onto your lap or if they are in a pet carrier no larger than a tote.
Seat Restraints
Seatbelts are mandatory for all passengers.
Children under 1 year must have a rear facing infant seat.
Children over 1 year (20 lbs) must use a child seat.
It is recommended that children over 40 lbs use a booster seat.
You must provide your own (until we have them to provide).
Donations
The operating costs of a well-maintained, reliable vehicle can be high. LETS! accepts any and all donations in excess of our prices.
We will also accept material donations like a dolly, child/infant seats or a bike rack for the van - or another van!!
